HVAC/R & refrigeration

Rooftop units, chillers, heat pumps and refrigeration coils

Every coil loses efficiency the moment it's installed. SIMIX cleans out what's already blocking airflow, then coats the surface so salt, acid rain and biofilm can't get a foothold again.

How it works

Why coated equipment uses less energy

Traditional state: the insulating trap SIMIX state: conductive liquid glass
Two-panel illustration. Left, an uncoated fin surface pitted with corrosion and salt traps that block and insulate heat transfer. Right, the same surface sealed by a smooth SIMIX liquid-glass layer that conducts heat away.

Expansion and contraction open microscopic gaps between fins and tubes. Salt and airborne pollution settle in, and the unit works harder for less cooling.

SIMIX fills those gaps with a smooth, conductive surface. More airflow, better heat transfer, shorter run times.

01

Fills microscopic gaps

A smoother surface transfers heat better and gives corrosion nowhere to start.

02

Conducts, not insulates

Silica with potassium and lithium pulls heat off the coil. Conventional coatings insulate it.

03

Stays cleaner longer

Low surface energy resists dirt, grease and moisture, so PM cycles stretch out.

04

Cleans the air it passes

SPOT-ON™ titanium dioxide plus a high-pH surface break down odors, mold and allergens.

05

Cools roof surfaces

A high-solar-reflectance clearcoat drops roof-membrane temperature — lowering the heat load into the units above and blunting the local heat-island effect.

The school's existing rooftop units were cleaned and coated — nothing was replaced. Usage was measured against the 2024 baseline month by month; savings accelerated through summer.

Year two and beyond: the reactive-cure coating keeps hardening, so on maintained equipment performance continues to improve through years 2–5.

These older units produced dramatically colder air after all condenser and evaporator coils were cleaned and coated. Run times were reduced by over 50%, slashing energy use while also improving air quality.

Air temperatures measured during the cleaning and coating process on the Waffle House #265 rooftop unit: return air 81.1 degrees; supply air 67.8 before cleaning, 60.7 after cleaning and 35.8 after coating, for split results of 13.3, 20.4 and 45.3 degrees

SIMIX turns your evaporator coil into an air purifier

Cleaner, fresher indoor air

Cleaning and coating the evaporator coil breaks down airborne germs, viruses, odors and allergens instead of letting the coil recirculate them. Independent testing at a busy Chicago-area diner found the air cleaner and fresher than outdoors, with no UV-C light source used.

*Cat allergen is tenacious and transfers easily on hair and clothing, so run-to-run variation is common. AirAnswers™ collects biological particles; samples analysed by RT-PCR in an ISO-certified lab using CDC-designed protocols.

Independently tested corrosion protection

1,008 hours of salt fog and UV, zero blistering or rust

KTA-Tator Inc. (project no. 66077381) ran cyclic salt fog and UV exposure per ASTM D5894-21 — 1,008 hours of accelerated weathering and UV, including 168 continuous hours of salt and acid fog at pH 5.0 — then graded coated aluminum and copper panels per ASTM D714 (blistering) and ASTM D610 (rusting).

Application

What gets coated, and how

SIMIX coats the entire unit — cabinet interior and exterior, fan blades, condensing, evaporator and heat exchange coils. It's field-applied by an HVAC technician or trained in-house staff, with no shutdown required.

  • Prevents salt and acid rain damage, extending unit life
  • Reduces PM time and stretches service intervals
  • Payback commonly reported in 3–9 months
  • Certified technicians typically charge an estimated $75–$125 per ton
How much can SIMIX reduce an HVAC energy bill?+
Savings are site-specific, not a fixed guarantee. Documented sites have reported roughly 12 to 24 percent less kWh, depending on climate, equipment age and run hours. Waffle House #265 in Phoenix saw its supply-air split improve from 13.3° before cleaning to 45.3° after coating, with run times down more than 50%.
What is Dirty Sock Syndrome?+
It's the musty odor caused by bacteria and mold growing on a damp evaporator coil. SIMIX's high-pH, conductive coating discourages that growth, and the SPOT-ON reaction breaks down the odors it produces.
Do we need to shut equipment down to apply it?+
No. It's sprayed, mopped or squeegeed by a technician or your own staff, and programmes run around live operations. Avoid applying the clearcoat in direct sunlight or on a hot surface. The printable A/C instruction sheet walks through each step.
